INTRODUCTION:

Dating from1946 and named in honor of the archivist's mother, Margaret, the extensive collection started assembling in 1964.

The archivist's mother, singer Margaret Carson, cut some country western cowboy records in the nineteen forties. This collection has archival material dating from 1898. This audiovisual educational and research archive contains a copy of the first stereo recording -- circa 1920 -- rare presidential audio, Great Musicians interviews and performances, Jack Keuroac interview, Pope John Paul 11, famous Prime Ministers, Military Herors such as Col.Trevor Hodges.

Among the audio rarities in this collection are:

Pope John Paul II "Description: Excerpt from state visit to Chicago, "Polish Greeting to Chicagoans, Catholic and Ecumenical Clergy, Sir George Solti, and the Chicago Symphony"[Hear the Holy Father]

Colonel Trevor Hodges,the last British-American survivor of the 1915 Gallipoli campaign, reminisces: "Slaughter on the Somme." After he was evacuated in sick bay from Gallipoli, In 1916, then Lieutenant Hodges served in the British Army on the Somme in France. When he emigrated to America, Hodges served also in the US Army and rose to the rank of Colonel USA.--He only did one interview in his entire eighty four years. He died in San Jose California.

The last British survivor of Gallipolli died in Perth Australia, in 2006. Unfortunately, when Peter Paul was working there, no one knew that Mr.Campbell was in Perth Australia.

Sergeant Ted Samuel US Army World War tw. He had Guard duty at the train station where he witnessed the Russian Liberation Army General Vlaslov and his staff forcibly repatriated--on a train--back to Stalin's Russia and the Lubyanka Prison in Moscow for prolonged torture and brutal execution. The other Russian Liberation Army members and even captured Russian POWS were sent to Stalin's Gulags.
